Sold

I had registered a few of my items with ItsHandMade. Recently I got an order to make a set of coffee mug coasters. I was actually thrilled. Reason - It was going to be my first proper sale. I got the requirements and started on the projects.

It was actually easy and thrilling. The lady to receive the coasters wanted it in green and yellow. I had both the shades. So I made eight of these coasters. It took me just an evening. Remember the floral coasters I made some time back.

I stacked them neatly.

Put them in a gift pouch I had.

Put it in a cardboard box with a note for the lady.

And wrapped it with transparent paper and yarns matching the coasters.

It reached out to her safe and in good shape. And I was really happy when she messaged me saying she received it and liked the coasters. Well, that's it for now! :-)

Update

I think I have to tell you where I have been. Well, I have been here only - but way too busy. My office work was really eating up a lot of my time, leaving me all exhausted for the evenings when I could do something creative. I don't say that the pressure is over, but yes, reduced a bit. And that again doesn't mean that I can happily go back to my crocheting-crafting ways like earlier :-(

Now I do really have a reason to get going crafty and crochety like crazy. Yes, there is a happy little news! And yes, it again does leave me exhausted by the evenings. I do have a lot of project ideas but unfortunately haven't made much progress. There are a few more months till when I will have time for all these and hopefully can do something pretty within this time.

Crochet Satchel

Onto one more gift I made for my co-sis's daughter. I made her a small satchel to carry around.
The button is what I love the most on it. It is wooden.
I did want to apply a clear coat of polish on it but then you never know what all kids lick and put in their mouths. So I left it as is.

I pretty much like the off-white sides.

I packed it in a box along with the other handmade gifts for her

The packet reached her yesterday and it seems she is so thrilled with the satchel and not allowing her mom to take it from her :-) Yes, I am happy to hear that.

Floral Gifts

I had been wanting to make some thing for my co-sis's kid for a long time. The crochet flowers I made last week seemed like something good for her. So this is what I made using the flowers.

Hair clips

I had bought these tiny hair clips for her some time back. I tied on the flowers to the clips and they were ready. Too good.

Wanna see how they look when clipped on?

Haha... I didn't have a cute young model!

Hairband

I had made this band some time back. Now I added the flowers.

Sewed on the elastic.

And it was ready!

I created it a bit broad and am sure it would look cute on her.

And placed both in a packaging box ready to be mailed. There is one more gift for her beneath the flower clips and band. That I'll show you in my next post.

See you!

Floral Season

I recently am in love with pretty cute crochet flowers. I started making lots and lots of them and am using a mine own modified version of the Mollie flower tutorial. It is addictive. I have been using all my scrap yarn and making cute flowers in the past few days.

I started making these tiny flowers as I didn't want to start on anything new and big for sometime as I have some important things to be taken care on the home front. And oh yes, my friend bought 2 bags full of yarn when he went visiting somewhere in North India. The colors are pretty and the yarn is soft. I really want to just start off with them. But I am giving myself some time now. I am awfully sad that I cannot start on new projects now, but almost everyday I take out all my yarn, spread them out neatly on the bed, admire the beauty, have some sweet cuddling time and pack it back all neatly and carefully. Phew, it is so tempting.

Okay, back to my crochet flowers. Time for some pictures now.

Unusable to Usable

Few weeks back I did a little bit of experimenting on jewellery making. Not 'making' to be exact, but I'll say 'modification'. I am not a too much accessories person. Though I love accessories, I am too lazy to change them often. So I stick to my usual regular ones often. But I have a few silver ones with me which I have not been using due to some practical difficulties. So I tried out making some changes to them to make them wearable for me.

First I took this anklet. This was a gift. I have never worn it for the past 2 years. And so I understood that I never would probably.

But I loved the black and silver beads on it.

So I split it.

Made a small ring from a silver wire.

Added a small pendant which had been with me for almost 3 years now.

And joined to make it a new necklace for me.

The best part was that the length is accurate and I didn't have to make any changes to it.

Next item, was another butterfly necklace.

I love the butterflies on it.

But both the chain are in different lengths and are not too long either. So when wearing it, it keeps turning and twitching, which I was not comfortable with. And this had been in my box for the whole of last year. I decided to break it's curse.

Took out the butterflies from the chains.

Made the chains to equal lengths.

Added one butterfly to both the chains. And voila! A wearable new necklace for me.

I have kept the other butterfly apart. It may become useful sometime in future for some other project. :-)

Larksfoot Update

Its been a long time now since I finished my Larksfoot mini blanket. I had even photographed it right after finishing (at night itself, as I was impatient to wait till sunrise) and transferred the photos to my system. But had been keeping it here for so long. And every time I open my cupboard and see the finished blanket, I felt sad that I did not introduce the sweet one on my blog here. I finally made up my mind to blog about it.

So here comes my Larksfoot mini blanket.

Hope you liked it as much as I did!

In Progress

As always I have a few WIP projects now. You know, I can't stick to one project for long. I need to have a variety. So want to know what all I am working on now?

My larksfoot project is progressing pretty good. I am really liking the look though it is a bit dull.

Remember the set of yarns I showed you some time back? I have started a ripple out of it.

This is something entirely new. Inspired from a project which I will share later. For now, I have some knit scraps.

And a blue mesh sheet.

 Will post updated pictures.

I was travelling the whole of last week and was too busy. I literally had to take a break from all my crafty activities. I kept yearning to reach out to my hook and yarn. But yes, I did enjoy the break with my family. Now I am back in Bangalore, but there is a lot to catch upon. At the work front, lot of priority works to be completed, and at the home front, a week's laundry tops the list. My plants have grown and have started yielding, which means I have to give some time to them as well.

So, my point is, hooking and crafting is gonna have to wait for some time. But I'll be back soon! :-) I do have some things that I had done before leaving. Photographing them is the left out step. Nowadays it gets dark by the time I reach home. So I am looking forward to the weekend to photograph them in natural ample of light.

See you soon! :-)

New Yarns

I did buy quite a lot of yarn over the past few weeks. I bought them from Raja Market and Commercial Street. Except for one or two, the rest are dull colors. I already started making the project using the Larksfoot stitch using these yarns. Out of the rest, I picked three colors for a new project. The colors are these.

I took this picture using my mobile and in insufficient light. So it doesn't do proper justice to the yarns. I fell in love with the purple yarn instantly. The green is actually a lighter shade. And the cream colored one on the right end is equally lovely.

I have started rolling these up. I am imagining some pointed ripples or some simple ripples. I do have a project in mind. Let me see how it goes. My hands are just itching to lay them on these lush lovely yarn.

Trying out something New

For the past so many months or probably years, I have been doing the same granny squares, rounds, and shell edgings. Maybe something different I tried was the Ripple blanket. When I did my yarn shopping few weeks back, I bought some really dull colors and had no clue what to do of it. I used a little bit of it for my Flower coasters. I rolled out the rest and kept thinking and thinking and thinking. I did not want to do a granny square again. Finally it dawned on me. I remembered having seen the Larksfoot stitch is some blogs long time back. I really don't remember where I saw it but remember that it had shades of red, pink, and cream.

I thought I will try out the Larksfoot stitch. I worked on the pattern and didn't get it initially. I kept drawing and drawing. I used some leftover yarn also and tried the pattern. After some tries and drawing, I finally got it right. I know, I could have just browsed it online. But wanted to try it totally from my side. And once I had the pattern set, I started stitching.

This picture was taken two weeks back. Now I have pretty well progressed on it. Don't know when I will complete it as I find really no time these days for craft :-(

Again something Floral

I am having busy weeks now, owing to work and household chores. In between I managed to sneak in a few stitches here and there. And the results are …..

Yes, floral coasters.

And no, I didn’t stop at making two.

I made whole two sets of four each. So eight all together.

I don’t have a written pattern. Just worked it out. Will share the pattern if I ever write or draw it J
